And the main reason for the sites inception was to bring Ugandans both in Uganda and every conner of the world together by empowering members with a platform that helps them maintain existing friendships by leveraging technologies that enable a suitable environment for interaction over the world wide web!
The Story
Hi my name is Trevor, and Im the founder of UGfriends.com. Here is a brief story of how UGfriends came into existence.
early March 2008
While doing some self imposed reaserch on social networks and the effect of web 2.0 on niche online communities , my mind started to wonder and as if by accident it hit me - "Ugandans around the world needed there own web driven platform, a place on the online where they could keep up with old friends, meet new people, stay intouch with distant relations or even to just connect nicely with other Ugandans. Its at that moment that Ugfriendswas born. it was just an idea. The only problem was although im quite internet savvy, I didnt have a clue as to how I was going to bring it to life - all I knew was that I had to find a way .... and i did - finally. (phew!)
So there you have it. I hope that you enjoy using the site as much as I enjoyed the challeges of putting it together for you.
